Adaptation of the original game
What it is
My favorite game, reinterpreted to be more reactive. It takes Gabriele Cirulli’s 2048 and adds a sensory layer built with plain JavaScript: a synthesizer, a living background and tiles that glow as they grow.
Based on Gabriele Cirulli’s 2048 (MIT license).
What it does
- A synthesizer built on the Web Audio API: ambient drones and sounds that change with every merge.
- A Canvas background with particles that react to the arrow direction.
- Stronger animations and glowing shadows on high-value tiles.
- A mission briefing before you start playing.
- No external libraries: plain JavaScript.
What I did
- I took my favorite game and turned it into an almost rhythmic experience: every merge sounds, glows and pushes the background.
- I wrote a synthesizer on the Web Audio API with not a single audio sample: all the sound is generated on the fly.
- I built a Canvas particle system that reacts to the direction of every move, and an event architecture connecting game, sound and effects.
- I did it all in plain JavaScript, with no libraries or engines, and it packages into a single page.
